Looking for Lego compatible mini figures on Aliexpress?

 

I swear it's getting harder and harder to find Lego compatible mini figures for cheap now on Aliexpress.  They used to be all over the place but now, with the added shipping costs, prices for mini figures have ballooned to about $2.50 to $3.00 each

But I found one Aliexpress store that still has mini figures for cheap.  It's called the Building block toy store and it has a fairly decent feedback rating.  The listing has a set of 8 mini figures for $4.60 + $0.42 shipping which adds up to about $5 CDN, even cheaper in USD. 

From the picture they look to be characters from the PUBG series (Players Unknown Battleground) game.  There are seven males and one female, all holding weapons. You won't find these in any Lego store, lol.

Latest Deal: Dinggao DG2002 Post Office Modular Building Set

Today, we are looking at this 3250 piece modular building that sits on a 32x32 stud baseplate.  Although it's not specifically mentioned in the Aliexpress listing this is the Ding Gao DG2002 Post Office modular building.  

It was thoroughly reviewed on Scottie Hui's BrickMeUpScottie Youtube channel.

Ding Gao is a sister brand to Sembo blocks who are well known for their near Lego quality bricks.  I have the Corner Garage set by Ding Gao and can attest to the excellent brick quality of this brand.  This post office comes with 7 Lego style minifigures and is comparable in size to the Lego Assembly Square modular building.

This is an excellent set to add to your modular building collection and right now it is attractively priced at less than $100 USD, so get it while it lasts!

This week on Aliexpress I found these very cool modular buildings.  They are like Lego but made by the Sembo brand.  Not bad for these buildings with nearly 1300 pieces.  There are two different buildings for sale, one is the bookshop (Sembo 601144) and the other is the coffee shop (Sembo 601143).

I bought the coffee shop modular building a few months ago and I paid double for mine, so this is a super deal. 

In case you want to see what this set looks like, I reviewed it on my blog Its-Not-Lego.blogspot.com.   It's the Sembo Coffee Shop set 601143.  I really enjoyed the build and the bricks were just like Lego.  As a bonus, these sets come with several minifigures and even light bricks to light up your modular buildings.

This is a new listing and therefore doesn't show up in the Aliexpress search results yet.   Once, the listing becomes public, I'm sure the price will go up.

As you can see, the other listings on Aliexpress for this set are nearly double the price at the time of this posting.  There used to be a lot more Aliexpress stores selling this but now there's only a handful left.  Like most of these alternative Lego sets, they are sometimes only limited runs and after they're gone, they're gone.

I bought a not Lego off-road truck for only $5.44!

 Hey fans of brick toys and Aliexpress!  I just wanted to let you know about this secret deal I found on Aliexpress.  I was hunting for building sets to make a monster truck.  I found this listing from a store called QIHUI Block Store.

Above is the screen shot from the Aliexpress store.  The item is a pullback offroad vehicle.  It has 199 pieces according to the box art.  The brand is Qihui and the set number is 5804.

This yellow truck is supposed to have working suspension too.  The model is comprised of mostly technic style bricks and comes with the large balloon tires. I'm not sure if it is Lego minifigure scale or not.

Anyways the listed price of the offroad vehicle was $17.84 CDN but the price has been lowered to $15.43 now.  When I added  the item to my Aliexpress cart, I checked for any vendor coupons and the store offered a coupon for $12.40 off.

Usually, this sort of coupon requires a certain minimum price before the coupon is valid, but when I checked out, it still worked on my small purchase.  

So far, so good, I got a tracking number and looks like it is shipping out.

I'm not sure how long the coupon will last so I recommend you jump on this deal right away before it goes away!   The link to the item and store is below.

Aliexpress: Xinh X0125 Big Bang not Lego minifigures

Sheldon's living room is featured in Lego's Big Bang Theory set 21302.  I haven't seen any of the knockoff brick manufacturers make the entire set, although I imagine it will just be a matter of time.

The good news is that the Big Bang Theory characters have been reproduced as minifigures by at least three different clone brands.    Xinh has set X0125 which features two versions of Sheldon, Leonard, Raj, Penny, Amy, Howard and Bernadette.

Pogo has also made their own version of the bootleg minifigures, but only one of each of the characters.  The set numbers range from PG-978 thru PG-984. But the entire set number is PG8025.

And here's a brand called Kopf set KF1025 and unknown brand using the similar minifigures, except if you look closely the hairpieces are different, specifically Raj and Howard.

Aliexpress: LOJO AX1001 Creative Brick Baseplates

A few months ago I saw an Aliexpress seller that had lots of different colour baseplates, which are the lego pieces typically used for modular building.  Anyways, they had quite an assortment and the price was reasonable, so I placed an order for a couple just to see if they were any good or not.

The Details

In the past, baseplates that I have ordered were flimsy and came without any packaging.  These new ones were different.  Each baseplate comes in it's own packaging and the quality is excellent, exact Lego quality.   The brand is called LOJO and the item number is AX1001.  Anyways, I swapped out the crappy baseplate that came with my Lepin Cafe Corner and used the LOJO one.  Wow, what a difference.  They are very sturdy and don't bend much despite not being that thick.   Here's my latest order.

The size is 32 studs by 32 studs and will support your fullsize modulars.
As you can see, the baseplates are on sale for only $3.39 USD and come with free shipping.

Aliexpress: Lepin 05054 Star Wars U-Wing Fighter

Today, I'm going to talk about the Lepin 05054 Star Wars U-Wing Fighter bootleg Lego building set.  Well, it's mostly going to be me ranting about why the price of this Lepin set has to cost so much.

First let's look at the ship.  The U-Wing fighter is that cool troop transport vehicle from the Rogue One Star Wars franchise.  It's a quad engine gunship that has wings that pivot outwards.  In the underbelly of the ship, it can carry a number of minifigures.  The Lego and Lepin versions of the ship has a cockpit for one pilot whereas the movie version has a dual pilot cockpit.  This set has 679 pieces and comes with 5 minifigures: a U-wing Pilot, Bistan, Jyn Erso, Cassian Andor and a Rebel Trooper.

The amount of bricks in this U-Wing set is almost as many as in the Lego/Lepin X-wing fighter sets.  In my table below, I've compared the latest three Star Wars fighter sets that Lepin has copied from Lego.  Take a look.

So I remember that when the Lepin Poe's 05004 X-wing Fighter first started showing up on AliExpress, it cost about $23 to $25 USD.   And when the Lepin 05029 Resistance Fighter appeared, it was priced at around $25 to $27 USD.

And I was ok with this price point because the Lego versions were and are much more.   Here's a snapshot of how much the Lego 10466 Poe's X-Wing Fighter costs on the Lego.com.   It's $79.99 USD.

I went on to Aliexpress and took this fairly current screen grab of the Lego knockoff Lepin 05004 X-Wing.  You can see it's $22.30 USD.   So the Lepin X-Wing version is about one-third the cost of the real Lego model.

The newer Lego 75149 Resistance X-Wing Fighter set is similarly priced at $79.99 USD.

The Lepin 05029 Resistance X-Wing Fighter is slightly more at $24.35 USD, again it's about one-third the cost of the real deal on Aliexpress.

So, now we are looking at Lego's 75155 U-Wing Fighter.  It is priced at $79.99 like the other previous X-Wing fighters.  But there's less pieces in this set, almost 10% less at 679.  Ok, it's 2017 Lego pricing, I get it.

So when I check Aliexpress, I expect that the new Rogue One Lepin version of the U-Wing fighter to only cost say $27 to $29 USD.  I was willing to pay that price.   But guess what, the lowest price on Aliexpress right now for the Lepin U-Wing is $40 USD!  That's right $40 USD.   That's 25% more than the other models that have more pieces.  I think that's just way too expensive for a bootleg Lego model.  It's not like Lepin has to pay any royalties to Disney or Star Wars.

As much as I want to buy the Lepin version, I'm going to hold off until the price drops to the price I'm willing to pay, which is under $30 USD.   What do you think?  Is $40 USD too much to pay for the Lepin knockoff version of the Lego Star Wars U-Wing?     Let me know, I'd like to hear your thoughts.

Aliexpress: Gudi 8911 Passenger Airplane

Hello, it's time to look at another bootleg brick building set deal I found on Aliexpress.com.  This one is the Gudi 8911 Passenger Airplane.  This set comes with three Lego compatible minifigures, a car and some kind of antenna tower.  There are 334 pieces to this set.  I've recently built the Gudi 9213 Fire Rescue Boat and was pleasantly surprised by the brick quality of that set, so hopefully this airplane set will also be a good set too.   The Aliexpress store selling this set is Biscuit's Toyland and I have personally bought other brick sets from this seller without any issue.

Aliexpress: Sluban City Bus M38-B0330

I've had a few people inquire about the blue bus that is featured in some of my pictures of NotLego town.  I modified mine, but you can get the original City Bus from Aliexpress.  The set number is M38-B0330 made by Sluban.  If it makes you feel better, this Sluban bus is not a bootleg or clone of a Lego design. It's Sluban's own design as far as I know.

The bus features three non Lego type minifigures and has two opening doors and lots of seating for passengers.  I also really like that the windows have a dark tint, not clear as in the Sluban pictures.  There are 238 pieces in this building set.   It can be found on Aliexpress for $9 USD, which is about what I paid for mine.   For this low price, you could buy two sets like I did and build your own stretch bus.

Aliexpress: Xinh X0151 Star Wars Stormtrooper Minifigure

I think prices have gone up on Aliexpress for bootleg Lego bricks and minifigures because it's getting harder and harder to find really good deals.   That being said, I was able to find this little gem hidden amongst the listing of other minifigure listings.  It's a Star Wars Stormtrooper minifigure made by the Xinh brand item X0151.

It's so cheap at only $0.42 cents per figure with free shipping.  Imagine the Lego like Stormtrooper army you could amass for your Star Wars displays.  I bet if you bought a lot of minifigures from the seller, you could negotiate even a cheaper price.  Never hurts to try.

Aliexpress: Sluban Construction Building Sets - Update

I mentioned in my last post that I found these Sluban branded Construction building sets on Aliexpress.  Turns out they are even cheaper during the annual Aliexpress 11.11 sale.

 I put these into my Aliexpress shopping cart to see how much it would cost to buy the three sets above.  The Cement mixer is only $5.94 USD, the dump truck set is a meagre $8.49 USD and the giant Tower Crane is a paltry $36.54.   This only adds up to $50.97 for all three sets, yet the Aliexpress store gives you another $3.00 discount, so the total price is only $47.97!

Don't believe this is an incredible Aliexpress deal?  Check out Sluban's website for the retail price of the Crane set.  It retails for $131.49 USD plus you still have to pay $25 shipping.

Aliexpress: Sluban Construction Vehicle Building Sets

I found these Sluban branded Construction Vehicle building sets on Aliexpress.  You can choose between the following models: the M38-B0550 Cement Mixer, the M38-B0538 Front Loader and the M38-B0539 Steam Roller, and they are all being sold for the same low price at $6.64 USD.   They have 296, 212 and 171 pieces respectively.

Sluban bricks are their own designs and not knock-offs of Lego. The brick quality is somewhat inferior compared to Lego and the minifigures are not compatible, but the price is right considering the number of bricks you get for the price.  The Aliexpress store also has other Sluban construction building sets on sale. The M38-B0555 Tower Crane set looks intriguing and would look neat in my modular town.

Aliexpress: Enlighten 110 Police Station

I think this Enlighten 110 Police Station building set is really good value for only $18.99 USD.  This is a big set with over 589 pieces.  The station has lots of accessories and about 5 mini figures.  There is a separate building that houses the jail.  You also get a helicopter, a police motorcycle trike, and a police van.  Normally, each of those vehicle building sets would run you about $4 to $5 each, so I gotta say this set is really inexpensive.

Aliexpress: Lepin 01008 Friends Rollercoaster

Ok, once in awhile, these kind of listings show up on Aliexpress and I get a big chuckle out of them. This new Lepin 01008 Friends Rollercoaster set isn't out yet, so that's why it must be so expensive.  I tried to see if any one of the 1124 pieces was plated in gold or not.  At $4,788 USD, that means each piece in the set costs about $4 each.  Well, at least you get free shipping, lol.

Aliexpress: Sheng Yuan SY305 Iron Man Lab

I remember when the SY305 Iron Man lab was made by Sheng Yuan back in 2014.  It was a copy of a Lego idea that never got made.  I think it sold for about $25 USD, and now two years later, it's cheaper than ever at only $20.90 USD.   The lab comes with 4 different Iron Man armours and Tony Stark minifigure.  There are approx 503 pieces to this super heroes building set.

I like the diorama nature of this building set, but wish they had made it more modular in nature.  I don't think the Lego Avengers Tower had been produced yet, so I guess they did not think about integrating the 2 sets together.  It would have made a cool basement for the Tower.

I gotta say, now is a wonderful time if you are a fan of Modular buildings.  In the short span of six months, we have seen every Lego modular copied, even the most famous Green Grocer.   If you are new to Lepin and worry that you have missed the boat on getting some cheap modular buildings, fear not, as I have curated a list of bootlegged modular buildings you can find on Aliexpress right now for under $60 USD delivered.

Let's take a look at what I found.

Lepin 15004 Fire Brigade

Here's the Lepin 15004 Fire Brigade set. It is a knock-off of the Lego 10197 set which is now retired. It has 2313 pieces and comes with a vintage fire truck and several minifigures.  On Aliexpress, it is selling for $58.35 USD shipped.  I have this set and you can find my review of it here.

This seller has it even cheaper at $56.68 USD.

Lepin 15009 Pet Shop

This Lego set is still in production, but Lepin chose to copy it anyways. It has 2128 pieces and is selling on Aliexpress for $58.37 USD.  I bought this set, but haven't built it yet.

This seller has it cheaper at $57.12 USD.

Lepin 15002 Cafe Corner

The Lepin 15002 Cafe Corner was the first bootleg modular I ever bought.  Although there are some minor differences between this set and the original Lego 10182 set, the build was still fun.  The Lepin version has 2133 pieces and can be found for $57.94 USD.   I have set also and you can find my review of it here.

Lepin 15008 Green Grocer
